Summer Wedding at The Westin ft. a Traditional Tea Ceremony

This summer wedding The Westin Great Southern Columbus felt like a dream. From the traditional ceremony to tea ceremony, then every event that surrounded it, Nhung and Andrew’s wedding filled my creative heart with joy.

I knew from the moment I met Nhung that she didn’t just do the basics. She gave everything her all, especially her relationship with Andrew. She never stopped smiling when getting ready that morning. Her excitement to marry Andrew was so, so evident.

When hearing about her 3 outfit changes, I was excited to see what the first look was going to be, and it did not disappoint. The off the shoulder sleeves, delicate lace, and train were stunning. Paired with her textured white bouquet by Prema Designs and cathedral veil, you knew Andrew’s jaw was going to drop.

As Nhung put on her final details, Andrew waited for her outside in a duo-toned suit. During their first look, Andrew’s smile was radiant. After some photos around town, guests started to arrive at The Westin

The ceremony space was filled with gold details and lush floral installations. The sounds of violin and piano filled the air. Then as Nhung came down the aisle, it was silent as their loved ones paused to take this moment in with them. It was beautiful, but what was even more beautiful was the tea ceremony that followed their first kiss as husband and wife.

Family Tradition: The Tea Ceremony

Capturing the tea ceremony felt like a true honor as the two honored their friends and family by kneeling or bowing and then serving them tea. It was emotional for many as a tea ceremony symbolizes peace and harmony. It was a moment of togetherness that is hard to explain but a gift to experience. Of course, I can’t help but mention outfit change #2 as the two were dressed in traditional wear, adorned in red, symbolizing luck, joy, and family.

After tea, you were then taken into the main space of The Westin which is inspired by French renaissance architecture. While the space itself is elevating, tables caught your eye with lavender accents and fresh blooms of roses, and then uplighting by Luminary Productions guided you to the dancefloor. The two danced the night away in outfit #3, a strapless gown covered in beading with an exposed corset.

It was all so dreamy, including the late night ramen table, and is definitely a day I will be celebrating each year.
