Stop what you’re doing and brace yourself for this stunning wedding! When you mix Hotel LeVeque and the Ohio Statehouse you get an instant classic.

Devyn and Collin have been together for 13 years— they were each others first and only love. They have done so much together and have truly built a wonderful life, so it was only fitting that they had such an incredible celebration!

Collin and I first met when we were interning at the Columbus Dispatch. He was a reporter and I was a photographer (duh!), and we got paired up to cover a few stories together. He was always so kind and encouraging and seemed to have an air of assurance that I was lacking as a newbie intern. I guess that’s why I wasn’t too surprised to hear that he now is the AP reporter for the Department of Education. Impressive right?! Devyn is no less impressive— she attended graduate school at Harvard University where she received her Master of Public Policy and now works for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

When I asked Devyn what she was most looking forward to in her marriage she said, “getting to call my boyfriend of 13 years my husband,” so lets just say it was a long time in the making! The two met in high school and both attended The Ohio State University. After working in Columbus for a few years they moved to their current home in Boston.

Their wedding day started at Hotel LeVeque, which is a stunning boutique hotel in the heart of downtown Columbus that perfectly mixes modern sophistication with vintage touches. It truly is a photographers dream space— each room is accented with gold touches and a unique design that offers added interest to all the getting ready photos. This hotel has so much built in character that  sets it apart from most other hotel spaces in Columbus.

After hair and makeup Devyn slipped into her wedding dress with her mom’s assistance then her sister helped perfectly place the veil. Devyn hand made her necklace and borrowed her sisters earrings. She used her grandmother’s vintage mirror, which was a sentimental gesture to honor her memory. I loved all the thoughtful little details Devyn was able to incorporate in her morning to make everything a little extra special.

The entire wedding day had a really fun tropical art deco vibe that was accentuated by the flowers. The bridesmaids wore amazing ivory jumpsuits and carried unique bouquets with split leaf philodendrons as the focal point.

Collin and Devyn got married at St. Francis of Assisi, which is a charming Catholic church in Victorian Village. Following their ceremony we headed to the Ohio Statehouse for wedding party portraits. I don’t think I could ever tire of shooting outside of the Statehouse— it offers such a timeless backdrop with its giant white pillars and beautiful entryway.

I am so thankful that Collin and Devyn were up for a little bit of a walk back to Hotel LeVeque for bride and groom portraits once we finished with the wedding party because these ended up being my favorite photos of the day! The entrance to the hotel is just gorgeous with its gold doors and black and white checkered ground. We couldn’t have asked for better light and I think it was a nice moment for them to step away from the bustle of their wedding day and just soak up some quiet moments before the party got started!

Guests enjoyed cocktail hour inside the Rotunda at the Ohio Statehouse where light appetizers were served. The reception was held in the Atrium, which is another dream location because it is flooded with natural light from both sides and above! It was so fun seeing Collin and Devyn’s reactions during their reception reveal where they got to see all their design visions come to life so perfectly. I especially loved their reaction when they saw the cake for the first time! - Full discloser my mom of Sweetie Girls Treatery made the cake and Devyn absolute loved how it turned out.

When I asked them separately what they were most looking forward to on their wedding day they both answered with dancing! Once the toasts and dinner was finished they didn’t waste any time getting out on the floor and neither did their guests.

Thank you again Devyn and Collin for entrusting me to capture your wedding day— It was such an honor! As always, a wedding day takes a full team of vendors to pull off, so be sure to scroll to the bottom for all the details on their dream team!
