Franklin Park Conservatory Wedding in Columbus, Ohio

Leeanna + Chris

Franklin Park Conservatory wedding in Columbus Ohio

Leeanna and Chris first met during their undergrad program at Ohio State University and knew they wanted to get married back in Columbus after moving out of state for graduate school and work. They have been together for over 8 years and engaged for three, so after having to reschedule their spring wedding due to the pandemic, they were finally able to tie the knot on a warm fall day at the Franklin Park Conservatory surrounded by family and friends.

They were drawn to the Conservatory’s perfect blend of natural beauty and elegance and loved that it created such a unique experience for all their guests. Leeanna said, “the most special part was getting married in Columbus where our love began”. The sunny day full of beautiful fall colors was an added bonus!

Leeanna and her bridesmaids got ready at The Bride Bar, which was a perfect location to have their hair and make-up done while enjoying a few mimosas before the day got underway. Chris and his groomsmen spent the morning at a downtown Columbus hotel. I knew it was going to be an emotional and special day when Chris read his letter that his soon to be wife left for him and he couldn’t keep the tears from falling.

Those emotions continued to shine through during the couples first look near Mirror Lake on Ohio State University’s campus. Leeanna said her favorite part of the entire day was their first look because there was, “so much anticipation and excitement leading up to such a significant moment, and Chris's sweet reaction did not disappoint!’

I have to agree that is was my favorite part of the day as well— I love these private moments where couples can just completely be in the moment with each other without any distractions. Mirror Lake provided such a beautiful backdrop for wedding party photos and the bridesmaids lavender dresses perfectly accented the stone stairs and soft greenery.

Being major Ohio State fans, Chris and Leeanna couldn’t pass up the opportunity to take a few photos out front of the ‘Shoe before we headed over the the Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens where we finished their wedding party photos on the terrace just in time for golden hour.

The couple had their ceremony in the luscious Palm House. When I asked what moment they never want to forget they both agreed their vows and first communion together as husband and wife were top of the list, followed by their adorable ring bearer puppy Roman falling asleep on Leeanna’s train of her dress during their first kiss.

Their reception was also held in the Palm House, which provides such a cozy and exquisite atmosphere with the cascading fountain and lush greenery surrounding the white clothed tables. The bride and groom shared a sweethearts table in the center of the space where they had a perfect view of their guests. Following dinner and toasts they danced the night away with their family and friends.

Thank you so much for allowing me to capture your gorgeous day Chris and Leeanna— it was such an honor!
